Railway Supply Institute Applauds Tentative Agreement between Railroads and Unions

On behalf of the Railway Supply Institute, the largest and only trade association representing the full supply chain for the railroad system, RSI President Patty Long released the following statement on the tentative agreement between railroads and labor unions representing the freight workforce.

“The U.S. rail industry is critical to the U.S. economy, touching virtually every sector of commerce. Rail suppliers, who build and maintain the entire North American railcar fleet and own 70% of the freight railcar rolling stock currently operating in the United States, are critical to the railroad ecosystem.”

“A work stoppage would have devastating and lingering consequences for RSI members and escalate challenges related to the inflation and supply chain disruptions currently impacting the U.S. economy. RSI applauds all parties for coming to an agreement that balances the needs of workers, businesses and the economy. We urge workers from the respective labor organizations to ratify this compromise.”
