OneRail Event Highlights Rail Supply Manufacturing's Role

Washington, DC - October 26, 2017. In a standing room only crowd at the U.S. Capitol Visitor's Center on October 24, 2017, the Railway Supply Institue (RSI) was pleased to be a part of a forum titled "Putting America to Work: Rail Manufacturing in the U.S". The event was sponsored by the OneRail Coalition and the U.S. House of Representatives Manufacturing Caucus.

The forum focused on domestic rail manufacturing efforts, the types of jobs performed by the industry's skilled work force, recent manufacturing innovations, and current business trends. Representatives from RSI member companies, Alstom, GE Transportation, Progress Rail, and the Siemens Corporation gave presentations on their respective U.S. manufacturing bases and took questions from the audience.

"We were grateful to have several of our member companies attend this event and talk to stakeholders on Capitol Hill about their business plans here in the United States and what members of Congress can do to help them create and sustain jobs in our industry whether that is through investment in infrastructure, enforcement of Buy America standards or sensible tax reform," said Nicole Brewin, RSI VP of Government Affairs.

In addition, US Senator Chris Coons (D-Del) attended the forum and spoke in support of revitalizing American manufacturing and investing in our nation's infrastructure to meet the 21st century economy and compete globally.

"Forum attendees were given a  summary of RSI's U.S. Rail Supplier Mapping Project which shows that RSI member companies have more than 756 locations in 44 states and in 281 congressional districts," said Brewin, "this illustrates to members of Congress about how important our industry is to jobs and manufacturing in America."
