RSI Now Accepting 2014-2015 Scholarship Applications

Washington, DC,  December 19, 2013 –The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) is now accepting 2014/2015 school year applications for the RSI Scholarship Program, which provides a minimum of five $5,000 scholarships each year. Since 1989, RSI has awarded more than 100 scholarships to the children of employees throughout the rail supply industry. The scholarship recipients are college students pursuing degrees in a variety of fields including nursing, teaching, engineering, business, and transportation.

“Thanks to the generosity of our scholarship fund donors, we have increased the amount of each 2014/2015 scholarship from $3,000 to $5,000,” said Amanda Patrick, RSI’s Scholarship Manager. “Last year 10 students were awarded the RSI Scholarship in a variety of different areas of study, with two of those scholarships sponsored by the Mechanical Association Railcar Technical Services (MARTS),” Patrick continued. “As college degrees become more valuable and more expensive, the RSI Scholarship Program is more important than ever. I encourage all eligible students to apply.”

Applicants must be the child or dependent of a current employee whose company is a member of the Railway Supply Institute or one of the Coordinated Mechanical Associations (CMA). The CMA include the Air Brake Association, Inc. (ABA), the International Association of Railway Operating Officers (IAROO), the League of Railway Industry Women (LRIW), Mechanical Association Railcar Technical Services (MARTS), and Locomotive Maintenance Officers Association (LMOA).

The 2014-2016 application deadline is May 31, 2014 and winners will be announced in June.  Information on the scholarship program is available at
