RSI 2020 Exhibit Space Sales Postponed to Mid April

Dear RSI Members and Exhibitors,

In light of the recent disruptions caused by the COVID-19 virus, RSI has decided to postpone the opening of exhibit space sales for the 2020 RSI Conference: Education & Expo (RSI 2020) until April 15 to allow companies time to focus their resources and staff appropriately.

Below are some details to help you prepare for RSI 2020 exhibit sales opening. As a reminder, companies must have paid their 2020 RSI membership dues in order to exhibit with member pricing. To check on the status of your membership, please contact John Hebert, RSI Director of Member Relations at hebert@rsiweb.org.

About the Show - RSI 2020

The RSI 2020 Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on September 9 – 11. We are excited to host in a city where so many of our member companies and customers are located or within driving distance. As you’ll see below, we are making a few changes to our show format this year and believe Chicago is the perfect place to try out our new and more collaborative format.

Our goal is to see new people in the industry attend RSI 2020 and we will be encouraging more experienced folks to bring some of the newer employees from their companies to learn and help pass along all that knowledge to the next generation. As an added incentive, we will have a “First Time Attendee” discount as a part of registration for the conference. We are in touch with the railroads, suppliers, and other key players to determine what types of conference topics will be the most useful and updating our sessions appropriately.

Our show dates this year land on a Wednesday through Friday. Exhibitor and attendee feedback made it clear that the Sunday – Tuesday format was not ideal for traveling. In addition, we will host the conference sessions in the morning and the exhibits in the afternoon for the first two days of the show. Since exhibits and conference sessions will not be competing, we hope to drive attendance at both. Our intention is also to allow exhibitors an opportunity to participate in the conference sessions to continue learning and meet industry customers and colleagues in a non “show floor” setting. This will make for easier, more casual conversations on and off the show floor.

RSI 2020 conference sessions will run concurrently on six tracks. When individuals register to attend the RSI Conference, they will be required to select a primary track but will be encouraged to attend sessions in other tracks as well. We are working with our education partners and RSI committees to enhance our educational and training opportunities.

Exhibit Space Information

Exhibit space sales for RSI 2020 will open to RSI member companies on April 15 via an online portal. Space will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Booths will be 8’x10’ (8’ side walls, 10’ backwall length), instead of the usual 10’x10’, to accommodate more exhibitors.

The cost will be $3,000 for RSI members ($6,000 nonmembers) per 80 square feet with a max of 20’ * 8’. Note: We will be able to accommodate a limited number of companies if they require 10’x10’ space.

Registration & Room Blocks

Attendee registration (including exhibitor registration) along with hotel room blocks are scheduled to open on May 12. The room block rate at the Hyatt Regency Chicago will be $249/night.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Impacts

At this time we are expecting the current coronavirus travel restrictions will be lifted well before the conference, but in the event of a cancellation booth deposits would be refunded.

We also encourage all RSI members to continue following CDC guidelines in the operation of your facilities and to use health protocols of frequent hand washing and minimizing direct contact. We are doing all we can here at RSI to help our members get through these challenging times.

You can find a coronavirus resource center on the RSI website here.

If you have any questions, please reach out. I am happy to set up a call or Zoom if you'd like.
