RSI Board of Directors

When the Railway Supply Institute was formed in 2003, by merging the Railway Progress Institute and the Railway Supply Association, a board of 12 people was chosen from companies throughout the supply community to represent the diversity and strength of the industry. That first Governing Board created a frame work for Board membership that has guided RSI leadership ever since.

The RSI Board of Directors develops and implements association policy that keeps he organization moving forward. Comprised of small and large companies involved in the manufacture of products and services in the freight car, locomotive, maintenance-of-way, communications and signaling, and transit industries, the RSI Board represents the many facets of the railway supply industry.

Board Framework

The RSI Board of Directors has a nine member board and three leadership positions (chairman, vice chairman and secretary / treasurer). Each board member serves a three year term. The RSI board meets three to four times per year. The Board also has several subcommittees including an executive committee, a program committee and an industry relations committee.

Board Elections

Every year, RSI membership is asked to submit board nominations. Then, the list of nominees goes through a simple vetting process and the current RSI board reviews the list. A slate of candidates is established and presented to the full RSI membership at our September Annual Meeting where the RSI membership elects the slate. The Board, in turn, elects the board leadership - chair, vice chair, and secretary/treasurer. The office term for board members is three years; terms begin on January 1st and expire on December 31st three years later. The term for officers of the Board and special directors is one year.

If you are an RSI member and would like to be a candidate for our board or nominate someone, please contact Amanda T. Patrick by email or phone, (202) 347-4664.
