Annual Amtrak/RSI Roundtable Meeting

May 18, 2016 | Washington, DC

Amtrak President & CEO, Joseph Boardman, address RSI members at the annual Amtrak/RSI Roundtable Meeting

2016 Meeting Summary:
On Wednesday, May 18th, RSI staff and over twenty-five representatives from member companies participated in the annual RSI/Amtrak Roundtable in Washington, DC.

The morning began with participants meeting at Amtrak headquarters with Amtrak Executive staff including Joseph Boardman, President & CEO; Joe McHugh, Vice President, Government Affairs & Corporate Communications; Mark Yachmetz, Chief, Corporate Research and Strategy; and Michael Doonan, Senior Manager Procurement. Topics of discussion at this year’s annual round table event included the current state of the railroad, an update on Amtrak's current and projected capital expenditures (including rolling stock procurement), Fast Act implementation and Amtrak's Fiscal Year 2017 grant and legislative requests along with how to navigate the Amtrak procurement portal.   This was our final roundtable with Mr. Boardman since he is retiring from Amtrak at the end of this fiscal year.  An executive search is currently underway for his replacement.

RSI continues to team up with its member companies to meet with lawmakers and their staff to advocate for a dedicated, predictable and stable source of revenue for intercity passenger rail.

We look forward to more RSI members taking advantage of this outstanding event in 2017!

Please contact RSI VP of Government Relations, Nicole Brewin at brewin@rsiweb.org or 202-347-4664 with any questions about this event.
