Indianapolis, IN, September 18, 2017 – The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) unveiled an analysis of the economic role its 260+ member companies play in the U.S. economy during this week’s Railway Interchange 2017. The ongoing U.S. rail supplier mapping project, which provides an overview of member company headquarters, manufacturing facilities, sales offices and other locations, helps RSI clearly demonstrate to policymakers and others the importance of its railway supply industry members. The analysis shows that RSI members represent more than 756 rail supply locations in 44 states and in 281 congressional districts.

“As the U.S. economy depends upon railroads to move freight and people safely and efficiently, railroads depend on our member companies to manufacture and invest in the research and technology needed to keep our country moving and growing,” said RSI Vice President of Government Affairs Nicole Brewin. “This mapping project shows that our members are predominately small, main street manufacturers located across the U.S., in places where the employment opportunities and economic contributions they provide truly matter to their communities. This new tool will be updated annually to help RSI track the importance of our member companies to both state and national economic growth.”

The results of the project were shared by RSI at a presentation during Railway Interchange. Attendees at Railway Interchange may view the mapped results of the RSI analysis by stopping by booth 2336, Brewin noted.
