Chairman — Stan Carr
Manager, Taxes
American Railcar
This committee, which is comprised of companies that own and lease railroad freight cars, monitors and acts on state legislative and regulatory issues that affect the taxation of privately owned freight cars.
Members' efforts have not been in vain in certain states. In Wisconsin, the committee's efforts proved instrumental in getting a tax bill enacted that reduced the gross receipt tax on leased freight cars from 6 to 3 percent. The bill also changed the timing of estimated withholding payments in a fairer and more accurate manner of taxing car-leasing companies.
